On December 30, 2011, I went to MGM Foxwoods with my boyfriend with the quest of meeting Aretha Franklin for the second time. We knew it would be hard because she is very well protected. We arrived sometime in the middle of the day and walked around. We hung out in our usual places.

We were standing near the arena doors a half an hour before the show and lucked out when two nice woman gave us free tickets! So, we went to the show! She sounds as great as ever. She played the piano and did a version of “Bridge Over Troubled Water”. She did many of her hits, such as “Freeway of Love”, and “Respect”. She was very funny as well as a talented musician. She is definitely a performer we would see again and again.

After the show my boyfriend and I were waiting around, along with a few other people. When suddenly we saw a posse of people walk out and there she was. We saw a man we asked before the show if she would sign, he had said possibly. We asked again, he said that she was tired. So we followed, and she ending up going to a steak house. Everyone else got tired of waiting. My boyfriend and I waited and waited. She finally came out after a good meal in a better mood! We asked her to sign one of our albums, she said O.K.!! She signed it Happy New Year 2011-2012 Aretha Franklin. She has a beautiful and unique signature. So, I asked can you sign our other album and she did.

I didn’t want to press our luck with another photo with her. The first time we met her in NYC we got photos with her and a signed card.

This was the second time meeting her. She is very well protected, but extremely nice if you can get close enough to her. A great end to a great year of celebrity meetings!
